How to store your passport and ID on iPhone

In Pond, open Keys, tap + and choose Passport or ID card. Type the details, add photos of the document, then delete the originals from Photos and from Recently Deleted.

iOS 26 or later · 5 minutes

  1. Photograph it

Lay the document flat in good light. Take the passport's photo page, and both sides of an ID card or driver's licence. Or use Pond Camera, so the photo never touches your camera roll.

  2. Add it to Keys

In Pond, open Keys, tap + and choose Passport, ID card or Driver's licence. Type the number, the names and the dates; the number you need is then one tap away.

Good to know

Photos reads text

Photos can find text in images, so a passport photo left in your library shows up in search.

A copy isn't a passport

A copy on your phone isn't a travel document. It makes replacing a lost one much faster.

Questions

Is it safe to keep a passport photo on my phone?

Yes, in a locked vault. Not in your regular photo library.

What if I lose my passport?

Report it to the authority that issued it. Abroad, contact your embassy or consulate.

Which documents does Pond understand?

Passports, ID cards and driver's licences each have their own layout in Keys. For anything else, make your own kind.
